E-learning

E-learning is a short form for electronic learning. A wide definition of e-learning would imply learning with the aid of basically any technological tool. However, nowadays the term e-learning is primarily used referring to computer based learning over the internet, where interactivity is a keyword.

E-learning enables students to take courses anywhere, anytime as long as they have accessto a computer connected to, preferably, broadband internet. Thus it is the perfect tool for distance education, and also a great aid for ordinary students who can do more of their work from home. It is estimated that within four years from now almost every university in the US will supply some kind of e-learning courses. Similar trends can be seen in Europe, where Sweden has the highest proportion of internet-users.
Main benefits
The main benefits of e-learning include:
  • lower costs of training
  • training in less time with better retention
  • high level customization depending on each client’s preferences
  • the possibility to quickly update and correct the material
  • just in time learning
  • measurable results of student progress and course completion
In language education
In language education where self-studies and repetitive training are inevitable,e-learning can be a great asset. With interactive computer solutions the learningprocess becomes more fun and efficient. Students get immediate feedback on exercises. Explanations and suitable reference material are never more than a mouse-click away.

In developing e-learning solutions (where the focus should be on the potential user) the major challenge is how to use the internet medium to create an optimized learning experience for the students. We believe that we have the competence to meet that challenge.
